2013-14 Literary Magazine Receives Superior-Nominated for Highest Award

Congratulations to the alumni from the class of 2014 who led the editorial staff of the Spring 2014 edition of The Wayfarer! The National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) announced this week that Edgewood's student literary and art magazine received a rank of “Superior-Nominated for Highest Award.”

The Wayfarer is one of only three Wisconsin high school literary magazines to receive this honor this year. In the magazine’s 29-year history, NCTE has consistently ranked it “Superior.”  Magazines with that rank will be narrowed to only about two dozen in the nation to receive the “Highest Award” later this Spring. The Wayfarer has achieved this top recognition three times in the past. The letter sent to English Department Chairperson Ms. Diane Mertens states, “It is a very special honor for your school’s literary magazine to be cited. The National Council of Teachers of English congratulates you and the students who produced this exemplary literary magazine.”
